I was reading the Nichomachean Ethics Nicomachean Ethics, and I realized something about the great porn debate. (No, I didn’t read the whole thing, just Book I. Then I read a Nicomachean Ethics summary that seems trustworthy.) There are people who value sexuality, as a core value, and there are people who value chastity, as a core value. There’s this great spectrum of ideas. And I don’t think it’s so much that these people hate each other. I don’t think that the people who value sexuality hate the people who don’t. And vice versa! “To each his own.” The problems, I think, arise when people who value chastity are sent porn ads in their email. Or, even, when people who value chastity are tempted to view sexual websites. And when people who value sexuality try hard to sell pornography on people who value chastity [..]
