Local Names: Moving People to Adoption

Source :

My plan a little ways back was to write a bunch of plugins for Local Names. The theory was that if people could use Local Names in a lot of places, then that would cause people to use it. But now I’m questioning that. I’ve noticed that all of my friends who like Local Names, and who like the idea of using Local Names, are not actually using it. I use it every day, and I find it, basically, indispensible, by navigation alone. So, there’s a peculiar gap there: Why aren’t fans using it? I’m remembering when I was on unemployment. They had a class where they said:

“Okay; If you’re interviewing but you’re not getting hired, we need to look at your interviews.” “But if you’re not even getting interviewed, we need to look at your phone interviews.” “And if you’re not getting phone interviews, we need to check out your resume.” “And we make sure you send out those resumes!”

So there is a chain of things that has to happen to get hired, and I think there is a chain of things that has to happen for the technology to be adopted. I am, presently, noting two bottleneck points:

The website itself. I think it’s really complicated, for the beginner, who just wants to get what its about, and perhaps get into it. So what I need, I think pretty clearly, is a website for users. And, specifically, for users who are going to use Local Names solely to name pages, and to jump to pages [..]
