I told my mom and dad once, “You know, I really like the Pope.” This was before the present pope, mind you. “I mean, you know… All he does, is go around in his pope-mobile, and suggest that people be nice to each other, and stuff like that.” “But, he’s against abortion,” my mom (rest in peace) said once. Why, even now, I think she still remembers him with reservations. He also was against transhumanist ideals that I believe in. And he wasn’t into gay and lesbian marriage. Everyone has their flaws. “But, on the whole, he seems alright. He feels like one of those forces for good.” Check out this page by one of those folk who really really didn’t like the old pope. What do we see here? What did Old Pope say?

“Each man is united with Christ.” “Evolution is more than just an hypothesis.” “Dogmas and doctrines grow and evolve.” “Infidels can be saved for : “May Ghandi live forever!” “Heretics can be Christian martyrs outside the Church.” “All inter-religious marriages are good.” “Buddhism is a great religion.” “Heretics are not our enemies, but our brothers.” “The Catholic Church rejoices when heretics preach.” “Love is when we join in prayer with heretics.” “Anti-Christs have the human right of religious liberty.” “Sanctification and truth can be found in heretical sects.” “Today’s heretics are not to be blamed for their heresy.” “All men belong to the Catholic Church.” “One can be saved outside the Church by a moral life.” “All nations form but one community.” “The Catholic Church has a bond with false religions.” “Praying with false religions can bring peace.” “False religions seek the One True God Who saves.” “Buddhism is a religion of salvation.” “Jews are our elder brothers in the faith.” “The religious experience of Islam deserves respect.” “The plan of salvation includes the Muslims.” “Muslims worship the One True God.”

I wish to be so loving. I’d say “aspire,” rather than just “wish,” but that implies more commitment to the path of virtue than I actually have. It takes actual labor to really incarnate love. I’d commit to that, but I’ve commit myself to Local Names, and being a gearhead. Virtue. I commit my skills to Virtuous ideals, and people who can carry the torch of virtue. My light is not so dim that I can’t recognize a walking bonfire. Local Names is part of that, for me: Making it easier for people to communicate, and to understand one another. I see hyperlinks as holy.
