A sudden spell of food poisoning after Christmas allowed me to read Autumn Bridge by Takashi Matsuoka. I liked it. Samurais and Geishas followed me into my feverish dreams. There was much less cruelty than in Cloud of Sparrows. I also liked how the continuous jumping back and forth in time provided for a peaceful resolution to the matter of fate & death [..]
